1. Vulcan Park & Museum
Perched high atop Red Mountain, Vulcan Park & Museum is one of Birmingham’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see for anyone visiting the city. The park is home to Vulcan, the world’s largest cast-iron statue and a symbol of Birmingham’s industrial roots. Standing at over 56 feet tall, Vulcan overlooks the city, offering panoramic views that stretch for miles—especially breathtaking at sunset when the city lights start to twinkle. Visitors can take an elevator up to the observation deck for a 360-degree view of Birmingham’s skyline, surrounding mountains, and the sprawling urban landscape below.
The museum at Vulcan Park offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s history, industry, and cultural growth. Interactive exhibits highlight Birmingham’s steelmaking heritage, the creation of the Vulcan statue itself, and the city’s evolution from its industrial beginnings to the vibrant, modern hub it is today.
